14KT solid gold is the perfect metal for piercing jewelry. It's strong, durable & nickel-free. Perfect for sensitive skin & can be worn everyday without tarnishing or oxidizing. While solid gold last a lifetime, it does require care to maintain its shine.

To maintain the shine, first immerse your pieces in a warm water to dislodge any build up. Then gently clean it with a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush using warm water and detergent-free soap. Do not use abrasives. Second, wipe dry & clean them with a jewelry polish cloth. Store jewelry neatly in a cool, dry place, preferably in individual air tight pouches. Good as new!

Gold/Rhodium plating is meant to be permanent, but like all types of plating, it doesn’t handle rough exposure well. Gold/Rhodium plating wears out over time and can thin out, exposing the sterling silver (perak 925) base underneath.

Now, this is where it get’s interesting. At Tindik, our plated jewelries are curated to be 1micron thick + special coating. Be informed that most gold plated jewelries out there are only 0.3micron with no special coating. With this information it’s no surprise that Tindik’s Gold Plated jewelries last much much longer without tarnishing. However, It can still tarnish by exposure to sulfur in air & water, resulting in a loss of brightness & shine.
